On July 18, at a gathering of friends, neighbors, and supporters at Rawlings Stinton Park, Dr. Edwards Dr. Dana Edwards successfully launched his campaign for the Republican nomination for Congress for Kentucky’s 5th Congressional District.

The following is an excerpt from Dr. Edwards’ speech at the event:

For a quarter of a century, I wielded a steel scalpel to eliminate infections, to cure life-threatening diseases, and to remove cancers. But now I want to wield a different type of scalpel to cut away dangerous, “progressive” policies in Washington that threaten our families. Our country is suffering from a stage four cancer; it’s time for aggressive treatment.

When I get to Washington, I’ll bring with me our Eastern Kentucky values: defending the right to life, supporting the 2nd Amendment, securing our southern border, putting Americans jobs first, and restoring our families that have been ripped apart by addiction.

When I get to Washington, I’m going to loudly raise my voice on behalf of the people of Eastern Kentucky who’ve been ignored and written off by our governing elite for way too many years. I’m not going to Washington to make friends; I’m going to fight for my friends.

When I get to Washington, I’ll become the only representative from Kentucky to join the Freedom Caucus. I’ll team up with other conservative Republicans to help pass legislation banning the “transgender” mutilation of our children. And I won’t rest until every sailor, soldier, airman, and marine that was kicked out for refusing the vaccine is restored to service with full back pay.

When I get to Washington, I will find the money and human resources to restore our VA healthcare system back to the finest in the world.

And on my first day in office, I will sponsor a constitutional amendment to implement term limits so we can finally end the reign of “professional politicians” and restore the concept of the citizen legislator that our founders envisioned when they wrote the constitution in 1789.
